2006 PRESS RELEASE: Scorched Sentiments: A Soulful Acoustic Fusion of Folk-Rock, Bluegrass and Rhythm & Blues.
Three Baltimore-Born Musicians Culminate a Life-long Musical Journey into the Trio's First CD Release.
Andrew Luttrell, Skip Noon and John Wenger release twelve original compositions that offer just about something for everyone. Filled with heartfelt speculation of loss in If You Were Gone to sing-along, toe-tapping fun in Why Don't We Let Mama Sleep In, this compilation carries colorful, life-lived sentiments that bring listeners to introspection.
Beyond the composition's powerful and healing narrative, Scorched Sentiments offers another home-grown story: that of how three Marylanders' paths connect to take them on a journey where friendship and musical storytelling flower.
Each musician brings a life-long, skilled passion for music that's happened right in Baltimore's backyards. Luttrell began piano lessons at the age of six where he tried to practice Mozart while living next door to a bowling alley on Route 40 West. As a teen, Luttrell experimented with guitar, later selling it to an Ellicott City neighborhood kid for $50. How could he have known then that he'd later release his first CD Andrew Luttrell Live with Premier Records in 2005. Meanwhile, in Northwood, Noon got his first guitar in '62 when it cost $25 and the strings were 6 inches off the fretboard. A year later, Noon's Rosedale neighbor brought over Peter, Paul & Mary-Moving, which forever influenced his playing technique. Later, in '71, Noon experimented with a banjo, playing along to Hard Travelin' by Flatt & Scruggs. Noon would try out his material at parties-and one of those parties is where he met Wenger who, along with his wife, would sing along to every song Noon played. In short order, Wenger, a Dundalk native, told Noon that he would be interested in learning to play guitar. Not too many years later, the two played together on a local TV show called Man on the Move (later renamed People on the Move). That's when Noon suggested that the two start their own acoustic band with Wenger as the lead vocal.
Years passed, the band Noon started broke up and lives moved on. Until one day in 2005, Noon and Wenger got together with Luttrell…all three talents meshed, and the rest is history shared through powerful songwriting and moving melodies. -August 15th, 2006
